Savoury tomato sauce
A sweet and spicy tomato sauce seasoned with Kikkoman Less Salt Soy Sauce and paprika. Use the sauce as a base for pasta sauces, soups and dips.

- 50g ripe tomatoes
- 1 red pepper
- 1/2 red onion
- 60ml Kikkoman Less Salt Soy Sauce
- 1/2 tsp hot paprika
- Optional: 1 tbsp chia seeds
Preheat oven to 120C. Clean the vegetables and remove the cores, seeds and stems. Chop the tomato flesh into quarters, and dice the peppers and onions. Stir fry the tomatoes until soft and all the juices have evaporated. Pass through a sieve. Cook the peppers and onions in the tomato sauce until tender. Then you can either blend it until smooth or leave it chunky. Add the soy sauce, paprika and chia seeds if using. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Pour the sauce into clean, dry kilner jars, close the seals and lids and place in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes. Allow to cool overnight, don't turn upside down.
