If you thought Kikkoman soy sauce was just for sushi and stir-fries think again!

Award-winning bartender Rich Woods, AKA The Cocktail Guy at SUSHISAMBA and Duck & Waffle has created two very imaginative cocktails using a very special ingredient – you guessed it, Kikkoman Soy Sauce!

Rich is known for bridging the gap between food and the cocktail world and in these recipes created especially Kikkoman showcase just how versatile this soy sauce is. He says: “My Soy Martinez is a riff on the classic. The addition of Kikkoman Soy Sauce lends an umami and textural note which is utterly delicious and I’d urge people to try it at home. It’s epically simple”.

His twist on a Black Velvet is also so easy to make – just make a stout and soy reduction and then top up with champagne. A great idea for parties – why not get your guests to guess what’s in it. Rich recommends this cocktail for brunch time sipping.

Using Kikkoman in a cocktail may sound like a really novel idea, but it helps to balance out flavours and the gentle saltiness enables you to taste the other ingredients more intensely. Why not give it a go!
