Every Kikkoman fan knows that soy sauce is a multi-purpose seasoning. And you can use it to prepare fabulous snacks that are incredibly simple to make. Why not just try them out!
Soy-sauce flavoured nuts and seeds
Cook pumpkin and sunflower seeds or walnuts in a pan and flavour them with soy sauce. Simply add three to four tablespoons of soy sauce to the cooked nuts or seeds. You can create an even more delicious flavour if you add a little honey to caramelise the nuts and seeds. They make a great topping for soups and salads or you can eat them on their own as a snack.
Vegetable sticks with soy sauce dip
Raw carrot, cucumber and bell pepper sticks taste best if you dip them. For example, in a little bowl of soy sauce. Even children love them.
Alternatively, mix together equal quantities of mayonnaise and natural yoghurt, then add roasted sesame seeds and soy sauce.
Guacamole à la Kikkoman
Guacamole is incredibly quick to make and it tastes delicious. Halve an avocado, remove the stone and scrape out the flesh into a bowl with a little fork. Flavour the dip with shallots, garlic, pepper and a generous splash of soy sauce. You’ll also need a dash of lemon juice to prevent the avocado from turning brown. And if you like it spicy, add a little chilli.
Guacamole is ideal as a side dish with fried or grilled foods. And it’s also a gourmet treat as a dip for vegetable sticks.
Shake it! With Kikkoman
You can even put soy sauce in a shake. Obviously, it doesn’t work with every sweet milk shake, but it tastes great in vegetable shakes. For example, soy sauce adds a beautiful full-bodied flavour to a pineapple and radish shake. To make shakes for 4 people, chop up the flesh of approx. 300 g ripe pineapple, blend it with 100ml mineral water and chill. Peel 150g radish and chop it up. Blend the radish with 100 ml mineral water and drain in a fine sieve. Pour the pineapple and radish juice into glasses, drizzle with soy sauce and serve ice cold.
Extra special salad dressings
Replacing salt (or part of it) with Kikkoman soy sauce adds an extra special flavour kick as well as bringing out the natural flavours of the other seasonings and herbs.
