Lisa's Top Tips

Kikkoman is a great ingredient if you are watching your weight. Without getting too scientific, Kikkoman has the Umami Effect (the fifth taste sense - savouriness) which means when paired with other umami-rich ingredients such as mushrooms, Parmesan cheese and tomatoes to name a few, it ramps up the natural flavours of the ingredients. You won't need to add a big knob of butter to your mushrooms to get flavour into them, so it's a healthier option when cooking. Kikkoman doesn’ t contain any fat.

I always keep a bottle of Kikkoman next to my cooker; it's great for seasoning British classics like beef and ale stew to enhance simple flavours. I even add a dash to season my cooking liquor when boiling up pasta.

Kikkoman is great for glazing your turkey at Christmas, it gives the skin a wonderful flavour, I also add a dash to my cranberry sauce, great for balancing the sweet and sour flavour of this essential Christmas accompaniment.
